Bridget hails from a professional yachting background, has represented New Zealand and has twice sailed around the World in the Volvo Around the World Ocean race, as well as competing in many other famous offshore races, giving her thousands of ocean racing miles under her belt and a healthy love and respect for mother nature. She then joined the New Zealand Police and is a team member on the Auckland Police Search and Rescue Squad and the Auckland Civilian Search and Rescue Squad. Bridget and Zinzan were certified in September 2009. Zinzan is a big bad black three year old Shepperd with one set of basic rules he lives by "if I like it, it's mine. If you have it, it's mine. If I had it two minutes ago and no longer have it, it's still mine. If you're hiding from me in the bush, I think you have it and I am coming to get it!"
